FRIEDER BUTZMANN
Frieder Butzmann (*1954 am „Schwäbischen Meer“ geboren, lebt in Berlin zwischen Havel, Spree und Dahme) ist Komponist, Musiker, Hörspielautor und Performancekünstler. Er beschäftigt sich mit der Gestaltung von Klang in Film, Video und den neuen Medien. Humor spielt in seinen verschiedenen Bedeutungen in Butzmanns Werk eine wichtige Rolle.
Anknüpfend an seine Beschäftigung mit der Materialität des #Unsichtbaren wird Frieder Butzmann für #FragileResources ein Musikstück über und mit Wasser, das für ihn der wichtigste Stoff überhaupt ist, entwickeln und komponieren. Vom frühen Barock bis in die Popmusik des 20. Jahrhundert und darüber hinaus bereicherte Wasser die Musik mit seinen endlos verspielten Formen wie im ‚Lamento‘ einer Kantate von J.C. Bach, „Ach das ich Wassers genug hätt“, bis hin zu Rivers of Babylon oder Purple Rain. Butzmanns Stück wird erzählerische Komponenten enthalten und möglicherweise auch Amateursänger aus der Region einbeziehen.
"Als Kind schon fiel mir auf, dass das fließende Wasser der Sprache sowie der Musik und damit dem Gesang nahe ist. Das Wasser kann flüstern, rauschen oder mächtig donnern. Alle das will ich überlegen und irgendwie zu Gehör und auch eventuell zum Sehen bringen.“
Zum Abschluss von FRAGILE RESOURCES - THE LAB 2023, am 30. Juni 2023, wird Frieder Butzmann die Ergebnisse seiner Künstlerresidenz in einer akustischen Performance präsentieren. Die Uraufführung der dazugehörigen Gesamtkomposition ist für 2024 geplant.
Die Künstlerresidenz von Frieder Butzmann findet im Rahmen des Projekts „FRAGILE RESOURCES – THE LAB 2023“ statt und wird durch die NEUSTARTplus-Förderung der Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn aus Mitteln des NEUSTART KULTUR-Programms der Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien sowie durch die Bürgerstiftung St. Georgen ermöglicht. FRIEDER BUTZMANN
Frieder Butzmann (*1954 at the “Swabian Sea”, lives in Berlin between Havel, Spree, and Dahme) is a German composer, musician, radio play author, and performance artist. He is concerned with the design of sound in film, video, and the new media. Humor in its various meanings plays an important role in Butzmann's work.
Following on from his preoccupation with the materiality of the #invisible, for #FragileResources Frieder Butzmann will develop and compose a piece of music about and with water, which he considers the most important substance of all. From the early baroque to the pop music of the 20th century and beyond, water has always been enriching music with its endlessly playful forms as in the ‘lamento’ of a cantata by J.C. Bach “Ach das ich Wassers genug hätt'”, the Rivers of Babylon, or Purple Rain. His piece will include narrative components and possibly the involvement of amateur singers from the region.
“As a child, I was already struck by the fact that flowing water is close to language as well as to music and thus to song. The water can whisper, rush or thunder mightily. All of these I want to consider and somehow bring to hearing and also possibly to seeing."
At the end of FRAGILE RESOURCES - THE LAB 2023, on June 30, 2023, Frieder Butzmann will present the results of his artist residency in an acoustic performance. The premiere of the corresponding full composition is scheduled for 2024.
