YARA ASMAR
Yara Asmar ist eine Musikerin und Puppenspielerin aus Beirut, Libanon. In ihrer Musikstücken und live Auftritten kommen unter anderem Akkordeon, Metallophone und Elektronik zum Einsatz. Bei ihrer Arbeit während ihres zweimonatigen Residenzaufenthaltes bei Global Forest steht das Bauen von Puppen, die Herstellung von Tonbandschleifen und Field-Recordings im Wald im Vordergrund.
Den Schwerpunkt richtet sie auf das Projekt "The Cut-Throat Finch Preludes". Mit diesem Projekt setzt sie die Arbeit ihres Großvaters fort und versucht, seine Sammlung verlorener Tonbänder zu rekonstruieren, auf die er vor dem libanesischen Bürgerkrieg Vogelstimmen aufgenommen hatte. Außerdem wird sie an ihrem Musikprojekt “Music Box Ensemble” arbeiten, bei dem sie Musik für 42 Spieldosen komponiert, die während des Vogelklang-Soundcamps vom Publikum gespielt werden.
Die Künstlerresidenz von Yara Asmar findet im Rahmen des Vogelklang Soundcamp #6 2023 statt und wird maßgeblich durch das Impulsprogramm "Kultur nach Corona" des Ministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Baden-Württemberg unterstützt und zudem durch die Bürgerstiftung St. Georgen, LBBW Stiftung und Ah&Oh the digital easy gefördert.

Yara Asmar is a musician and puppeteer from Beirut, Lebanon. She incorporates accordion, metallophones and electronics into her musical work. Her work during the two months residency at Global Forest will revolve around building puppets, making tape loops and field-recordings in the forest.
For the duration of her stay the focus is on ‘The Cut-Throat Finch Preludes’, in which she carries on with her grandfather’s work, attempting to reconstruct his collection of lost tapes onto which he had recorded the sounds of birds before the Lebanese civil war. She will also be working on her musical project ‘Music Box Ensemble’ in which she composes music for 42 music boxes to be performed by members of the audience during Vogelklang-Soundcamp.
Yara Asmar's artist residency will take place as part of the Vogelklang Soundcamp #6 2023 and is significantly supported by the impulse program "Kultur nach Corona" of the Ministry of Science, research and art Baden-Württemberg and is also funded by the Bürgerstiftung St. Georgen, LBBW Stiftung and Ah&Oh the digital easy.
